Run run run

So.  It would seem that I've started running.  Not sure how it happened really.  It kinda just snuck up on me.

My friend H. posted on Facebook that she started a couch to 5K program and I jokingly said we should train together.  It would seem the jokes on me.  She called me on it.

That was about a week ago.  I didn't hate it.  So I said I would do it again.  And I didn't hate it again.  And then I went looking for a running shirt.  I then I started running home from the run.

Hmm...  I am not calling myself a convert.  But I might have actually maybe sorta liked the run tonight.  But don't tell anyone.  I've slogged running for so long I'll never live it down.

I have to say this little change of heart probably got nudged along by a little talk my friend V. gave me.  She told me that once she let go of trying to compete against herself and putting all sorts of objectives on the run and let go of feeling guilty if she didn't want to go for a run, she actually began to enjoy it for what it was.

Though I think having someone to run with an entertain me helps too.  Let's see where this will go.

Good for you! I used to run on the treadmill at the gym a lot, but I've always found running in the great outdoors tough. I don't pace myself well...tend to run too fast, so I lose my steam too quickly. Maybe I'd do better if I had a running partner, too.

Yeah us! I have to say I was so proud that we stuck it out on Thursday. Though maybe a little fool hardy, there was a funnel cloud spotted in the west end.

I love having you as my running buddy too! See you next week.

I got four weeks into couch to 5K and had to give it up due to time. But as of last week, I'm back in baby! It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Yay, you!

I've found that when running becomes boring or a real slog, I just leave the watch and ipod at home and take in my surroundings on a slow pace. It works. My love of running renewed again. Oh, and races help--especially big ones with thousands of people cheering in the final kms.

Good for you! I'm glad you like the sport now. I have done the opposite of you. I used to love running, and lately, you can't get me out there even if you bribe me with junkfood afterwards.
You go girl, I love that you went out and bought a running shirt!
