The innocence of a child

The jellybean came into the kitchen last night patting his cheek proudly...

JB: Look what I grewed Mommy!
Me: Um, that's a pimple.
JB:  Yep, a nimple.  And I grewed it all by myself.

Getting the jellybean into his car seat this morning, I answered some random question or other (no, I don't remember what it was, but probably something like where do trees live), the jellybean replied:

JB: How did you know that?
Me: Because I'm smart.
JB: You're not as smart as Santa Claus.

I see where I fall in the pecking order now.

I once answered the "how do you know" question with "because Mummies know everything." The response was "You don't know when Santa comes." So there you go, it's universal. Kids all put Santa as the Most All Knowing.

Interesting. I actually had to tell my kids I didn't know everything - they assumed I did. I got tired of making stuff up, though.
